Photo-less Vacation Diary

In a break from my typical concert listings, this is a post about my vacation to NYC. I forgot to take a camera, but one of the many benefits of the internet is that I can get professional photos of the places I went just by surfing the web!

Saturday three of us went to a pizza place before enjoying Gavin Lodge's performance in Spamalot. Then we hit the meatpacking district, saw lots of fancy cars, and enjoyed calamari at Pastis. Delicious beverages were consumed at the Spice Market before we called it a night/early morning.

Sunday we took in the gardens and escaped the rain at the Cloisters. We visited our friends' place in Harlem before heading to Spring Street Natural Restaurant, where the highlight was Baker Tina's strawberry pie!

Monday's excursions included the Guggenheim Museum. Though under construction, we enjoyed the areas that were open for a reduced rate. We walked Madison Avenue, sampled jeans at Barney's, then enjoyed a beverage at Grand Central Station before heading to the Upright Citizen's Brigade, where we witnessed some very funny acts including a performance by Kristen Schaal, aka "Mel" from Flight of the Conchords.

Tuesday I actually made a clothing purchase at Hanna's in SoHo (blue tank and white three-quarter sleeve). The last day of a trip is the best day to shop, I think. We also went to Teany ("Moby's place"), but sadly they did not have any lavender lemonade available. Then we went on the new Irish family tour at the Tenement Museum before picking up our luggage and going out for our final NYC beverage at the Modern. Thanks to all of our friends who helped us out, hung out with us, and made the trip so much fun!
